Violinist Maxim Vengerov is featured in the second batch of our series comprising five original artist studio albums in one clamshell box and at an unbeatable price! This five disc set showcases a variety of violin works that span vast sections of the classical music timeline.

Disc one of this five disc set highlights a variety of works by different composers, and includes Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, Antonín Dvorák’s Humoreske in G Flat Op. 101 No. 7, Franz Schubert s Ave Maria Op. 52, and Julse Massenet’s Medetation from ‘Thaïs.’ Disc two in this set offers performances of Benjamin Britten’s Violin Concerto Op. 15, and Sir William Walton s Viola Concerto. Both of these works are performed alongside the London Symphony Orchestra, and under the direction of Mstislav Rostropovich. Disc three showcases another collection of pieces by a variety of composers, including Kreisler, Paganini, Sarasate, and Wieniawski. These works are performed with piano accompaniment by Ian Brown. The fourth disc in this set includes performances of three late 19th and early 20th century works: Édouard Lalo s Symphonie espagnole Op. 21, Camille Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor Op. 61, and Maurice Ravel s Tzigane, Rhapsodie de Concert. These three works are performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra under the direction of Antonio Pappano. The fifth disc in this set highlights classic violin works by Ludwig van Beethoven, including Violin Concerto in D. Op. 61, Romance No. 1 for Violin and Orchestra in G Major, Op. 40, and Romance No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra in F Major, Op. 50. These three well-loved pieces are performed with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mstislav Rostropovich.

Maxim Vengerov is recognized as one of the world s most exciting violinists. Vengerov gave his first recital at the age of five and, after studying with Galina Tourchaninova and Zakhar Bron, he went on to win first prize in the Junior Wieniawski Competition at age ten. In 1990, when Vengerov was 15 years old, he won the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition, confirming his status as a musician of the highest order. Vengerov appears regularly with all the major orchestras and eminent conductors, and has performed as both soloist and conductor. His extensive concerto, solo, and duo recital tours have taken him regularly around the globe.
